北京核磁共振中心是由国家科技部、教育部、中国科学院和军事医学科学院四单位联合投资建设在北京大学的国家公用大型仪器设备开放实验室。他以自有的目前最高档的800MHz和500MHz的核磁共振设备为核心，与北京地区其他单位的600MHz、500MHz、400MHz和200MHz的核磁共振设备联成网络，构成一个系列化的、完整的核磁共振仪器中心。他以研究生物大分子的结构为主，兼及他们的性质和功能。实验室坐落在北京大学美丽的未名湖畔，场地宽阔、设备齐全，除核磁共振谱仪外，将拥有强大的解析分子结构的计算机设施、样品制备和同位素标记设备，将为工作人员提供良好的工作和生活条件。实验室有配套的运行经费，对国内外开放，将是我国开展生物大分子结构功能、蛋白质和蛋白质组、疾病机理和药物设计和治病机理等研究的一个重要基地。

Recruitment of NMR:

　The Beijing Research Center of NMR Spectroscopy is a National Laboratory jointly established by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Military Medical Sciences located at Peking University. Well equipped with an 800 MHz spectrometer at the Center and complete with a series of 600 MHz, 500MHz, 400MHz and 200MHz machines installed at various labs in the neighbourhood, the National Lab is open to domestic and international visitors. It is mainly involved in structural studies of biomacromolecules including their functional properties. Sitting near the beautiful Un-named Lake on campus it also provides spacious lab space, other instrumentation, and facilities for labeled sample preparation and structure analysis calculations.

Our goal is to build this lab into a center of excellence on structural biology, particularly related to genomics, proteomics, drug design and other research fields.

Modest complementary research funds can be accessed by visiting scientists based on approval by the Academic Advisory Committee of the Lab under a peer review system. On campus Guest House will provide convenient, though modest, food and accommodation facilities.

The Center seeks scientists with experiences commensurate with the rank of Full of Associate Professor and with an outstanding record of publications and external funding. The Chang Jiang Professorship at Peking University offers research start-up funds and an annual bonus of CNY # 100,000 complementary to Government salaries. An apartment of at least three rooms will be provided for accommodation. Job-hunting for spouse will be taken care of by the University.

Positions for application:

1. Director, chief scientist: An expert structural biologist or molecular biologist, well experienced in NMR studies of biomacromolecular structure-function relationship and properties. Full responsibility for building the Center into an international center of excellence with state of the art expertise and high level research programs.

Under 50 years of age, preferably under 45. Chinese or foreign nationality, part-time adjunct professorship spending at least 6 months at this lab is acceptable.

2. Associate Director, chief engineer: An expert in NMR spectroscopy, well experienced in NMR technology for biomacromolecular research. Full responsibility for maintenance and operation of spectrometers, advisor for NMR methods to be used in different research projects, development of new methodologies. Under 45 years of age, Chinese or foreign nationality, full time professorship only.
3. Associate Director, lab master: Administrator with physical-chemical background, experienced in NMR research, familiar with NMR methodologies. Full responsibility in daily administration and efficient operation of lab equipment (other than the NMR machine ). Under 50 years of age, maximum not over 53, Chinese nationality, full time professorship only.
