Created by Mi Wanzhong and painted by Mi Wanzhong, this innovative garden of " a spoonful of water as though an endless sea" inspired Qing Emperor Kang Xi to build the Summer Palace (Yuan Ming Yuan) right next door (just across the northern wall of Peking University today).

Professor Hou Renzhi, Peking University's internationally renowned Chinese historical geographer, recommended reproduction of the painting for the centennial celebrations.

The museum-quality reproduction is on permanent display in the official reception room of the new Peking University Library. A few scrolls of this limited edition reproduction are available to universities, museums and private collectors to share and to extend this art treasure and Peking University's centenary celebration around the world.
